One rack of sarees and a tailor in the back

That is how it started in 2009. A small shop in Bhavnagar, most of the stock bought on credit, and a lot of hoping people would walk in.

They did. Mostly because of one thing, which sounds simple but turned out to be rare: we told people the truth about what they were buying. Which silk would hold up. Which colour would not suit the light at an evening function. Which piece was worth the money and which was not.

Seventeen years later there are two stores, a proper bridal room, and a team that mostly grew up in the shop. What we sell has widened a lot, from sarees into kurti pairs, dress material, marwada sets and bridal cholis. How we sell it has not changed at all.

The newest part is the video calls. During the pandemic we started pointing a phone camera at the rack for customers who could not come in, and it worked so well we never stopped. Now we do them for people in Mumbai, Dubai and Toronto who want a Gujarati piece and cannot get to Gujarat.
